If you've ever watched a Rainbow Loom video and heard “Hi, This is Suzanne for Rainbow Loom”, then you know Suzanne! Suzanne Peterson lives in Reno, Nevada, with her husband, Wade, and their two sons, Logan and Carter. The Loomatic's Guide to the Rainbow Loom is truly a family affair as are most things for the Petersons. Suzanne didn't start out trying to write a book about the Rainbow Loom. She and her husband, who own Learning Express Toys, in Reno, Nevada, were trying to find a way to teach children how to use the Rainbow Loom during the classes that they offered in their two stores.
They immediately recognized the educational value of the Rainbow Loom and they were hooked! Suzanne expanded upon the rough sketches used by Choon in his Twistz Bandz videos. To make the instructions easier to use, Suzanne came up with the idea of the Color Code Squares and the numbering system. This is when she discovered that Rainbow Loom patterns could be taught without a video, which really comes in handy when you don't have access to the internet. With the assistance of her oldest son, Logan, they turned these sketches into instruction sheets that she shared with other Learning Express Toys store owners. Soon, store owners and customers were requesting more instruction sheets.
Suzanne worked creating easier methods and new designs to share and the requests for a book soon followed. Was it possible? She started corresponding with Choon and signing her emails “The Loomatic” because she thought he must think she was crazy! Suzanne turned to Logan, once again, to create a graphic image of the Rainbow Loom for her. Her plan was to make the instructions easier for children to follow. The graphic of the Rainbow Loom that you see in this book was created by Logan when he was 15 years old. It is not a perfect design, but we chose to use it in the book to show children what they are capable of.Wade learned how to use Adobe® InDesign® and the possibility of book became a reality.
Many of the designs were tested by their youngest son, Carter. After many months of hard work, Suzanne and her family have produced the book that you see here. Again, it may not be perfect, but we hope it inspires you!
